Welcome

Waachiiay! My intention for this page is to offer my thoughts on various issues affecting the First Nations in Northern Ontario. Having said that, I won't entirely limit my thoughts to this particular region.

My hope is to share with others the information I come across in my work and in my personal life. By doing so I'm hoping a dialogue will be created on the issues impacting the lives of Aboriginal peoples... and there are many to be told.

In the remote north, a new project could soon be at the doorstep of our mighty region. That project could forever change the lives of many residents. I'm talking about the Manitoba-Ontario Interconnect. Ontario is currently seeking to purchase hyrdro-electric power from a dam to be built in northern Manitoba. This power will need to be routed to southern Ontario through the north.

Another issue that we are all too familiar with is the suicide epidemic that is sweeping through our communities. I don't necessarily want to speak of the many reasons for why this is happening, but I want to share positive stories to inspire and provide hope in the lives of our young people. At the same time, in order to deal with the issue of suicide, it takes knowledge of why this crisis is happening in our communities.
